Itinerary
| Arrive | Details | Depart | Day 1 | Marrakkech - Join your tour group at the hotel | 12:00 | Day 2 | Casablanca - Rabat The city of Casablanca is a mixing pot of influences; the Moors, Moroccans and French have all played their part, making it a fascinating place to explore on our city tour. The minaret of the Hassan II Mosque is a particularly spectacular coastline landmark. Thereâs also the Corniche beachside area for lovely views of the sea. This afternoon weâll head for Rabat, for a tour of the city. Weâll see the intricately decorated Mohammed V Mausoleum and the 12th-century Tour Hassan. | Day 3 | Meknes - Volubilis - Fez We leave Rabat this morning for the Imperial City of Meknes. The sultanâs palace was said to rival Versailles, but since a powerful earthquake, only the Old Granaries and stables remain. As we explore them, you can imagine the grandeur of the rest of the complex. We continue past the Holy City of Moulay Idriss, a site of pilgrimage named after the great grandson of the prophet Muhammed. Later we proceed to the Roman city of Volubilis, a huge archaeological site renowned for its well-preserved mosaic floors. Even though only 25% has been uncovered so far, weâll get a fascinating insight into Roman life in North Africa. | Day 4 | Fez - This morning we visit the oldest Imperial City in Morocco beginning with the Medina Fez El Bali or Old Fez, where old twisting alleys have been bustling with artisans and merchants for nearly a millennium. Weâll then continue through the labyrinthine streets to the Karaouine quarters - the spiritual heart of the city. | Day 5 | Erfoud - A day of contrast lies ahead, as we stop at Ifrane - a leafy, 20th-century town thatâs a popular ski resort for the affluent during winter months - before continuing to the Middle Atlas Mountains and Erfoud. Our day concludes with a trip in a 4WD vehicle, to the edge of the hot Sahara desert. | Day 6 | The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs - Dades A wonderful day awaits as we make our way along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. En route weâll make a stop at the Todgha Gorge. At nearly 400 metres in height in places, itâs spectacular - a true highlight of our Morocco tours. Weâll have time to explore the canyon before continuing on our way. | Day 7 | Marrakech - This morning we visit the wonderful Kasbah Taourirt and then head to UNESCO-protected Ait Benhaddou. You may recognise this impressive fortified city, which can be traced back to the 11th century. It has been used as a set in âGladiatorâ and a number of other films in recent decades. We continue onwards, and ascend the High Atlas Mountains to the breathtaking Tizi nâTichka pass - the highest in the country - before arriving at our hotel in Marrakech. | Day 8 | Marrakech - On our city sightseeing tour this morning weâll experience vibrant sights so evocative of Marrakech. Weâll see the Medina, a labyrinth of small alleys famed for its stalls and souks, and Djemaa El Fna Square, a large open space where snake charmers and medicine men get to work. Exploring this captivating city is a high point of our holidays in Morocco. | Day 9 | Marrakech - A day at leisure to further explore the city. Maps arenât much help in this web of streets, but getting lost here is half the fun, and an opportunity to discover so much more. | Day 10 | Marrakech - Say goodbye to your tour group for your onward travel. | 10:00 |
